Keys to our past & future.

My great aunt blessed my socks off this week - she gave me her piano! I was so surprised when I received her phone call ... we have been looking for a piano for our girls (I play piano and trumpet and Abby plays trombone and guitar, so we want our girls to be musical, as well) for YEARS and have never quite found the right one. Well, the second they rolled that beautiful, Heintzman & Co. upright piano into our living room, our house breathed a sigh of relief and said, "I am now complete."
The piano is almost as old as the house (circa 1885) so the two are a fantastic fit. The piano belonged to my great, great, great aunt and has been in the family for years and years. It's an honour to have this lovely piano in our home - and it's awesome to think that the piano will continue to be in the family as the years progress - a part of history in the making.

Can't wait to hear Lacey's little fingers on the keys!

Also, this has been my first week back shooting in my NEW studio. :) Very exciting! And I have had some *AWESOME* clients to start off the new season!!!

First off, baby Daniel .. what a cutie! Look at that hair!

and then I have the sweetest family visit me this weekend ... a family of four kids, all under the age of three! Wow!

The kids were fabulous and so cute ...!

And a quick note ... I'm pretty much booked up for the fall/winter - and the studio is closed during the month of December (so we can all enjoy the Christmas holidays!) so if anyone has been delaying calling or e-mailing me to book their session for 2007, please do so SOON. It's going to a busy and wonderful fall and I don't want anyone to miss out! I have started taking bookings for April 2008, as I will need a few months off around the birth of my baby in January 2008.

Have a great day, everyone! Stay cool!

    Had some fun yet today?

"Unless each day can be looked back upon by an individual as one in which he has had some fun,
some joy, some real satisfaction, that day is a loss."

This was my second time working with this family and we had as much the second time around as we did in the first! Here they are on my website from last year....

Guys - Thanks for a great time yet again! Your proofs will be online soon!!

    A bride and a bike.

This weekend, I had the honor to attend a wedding as a guest and also shoot it as their photographer! A little tricky with two kids in tow - thank God for Grammas!

The groom builds motorcyles ... so we got this shot for him.

    Enjoy, Chris!

I am excited to proof this wedding but I have one more session ahead of them in the to-do list ... but for now, here's one more ... I even got them jumping on the trampoline! What great sports! (too bad her dress got all dirty from this - Pam, I am so sorry!!!)

    Have a great day, everyone!

Well, as promised, I thought I would share some photos from my sweet Precious Lyla's big day this past weekend. I have way too many photos so I'll try not to do a photo-overload ...! The party was so much fun ... it is such an amazing feeling to be surrounded by family, loved ones, friends and well wishes ... I feel so blessed - and I'm pretty sure Lyla felt it, as well! She was glowing all day!

"Never thought that love could feel like this and you changed my world with just one kiss, how can it be that right here with me there's an angel?"

Isn't this the *most* beautiful cake you've ever seen? My VERY talented friend, Leanne, made it and wow - she's awesome!!

with my dad, Grandpa 'Marshie' ...

Grampie Gauthier, getting ready to bless Lyla with a prayer ...

LOVE her expression on this - "Ohhhhh! Look at that CAKE!!"

the twinkle flower lights (that took me forever to make) ...

    LOVE her smile ... :) ....

Quick note - the studio is PUT together - as far as shooting goes and I start shooting clients next week ... plenty of images to come! ;)

" ...grandparents are the human cement that holds a family together,
the bedrock on which all else stands."

We had Lyla's big, lovely, joyous celebration for her first birthday yesterday - so much fun! I can't wait to post some pictures ... but I'm just going through them quickly and found this one, of Lacey, my eldest daughter, who is now 3.5 years old, getting a big smoooooch for her Grampie. It melted my heart.
Grampie Gauthier is SUCH a great grandfather - he's so fantastic and loving to his five grandchildren. He loves them dearly, spoils them rotten and thinks the world of them.

So just for now, here's Grampie and Lacey on a lovely Sunday afternoon ...

    Three hundred sixty-five.

A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun.  Enjoy the trip.  ~Author Unknown

And so my little baby Lyla turns a year old... I took these pictures on her first morning as a one year old. We're celebrating her big day this Sunday, which will be loads of fun with friends and family, good food, joy and company.

It's bittersweet to watch your baby turn one ... you look back and realize how *fast* a year can fly ... and you look ahead and promise yourself to capture and treasure every moment together over the next year. So many little changes that will turn a baby into a toddler and a toddler into a child.

For all the milestones and all the tiny steps, for all the late nights and the early mornings, for all the fun and the laughter, the tears and worry, for all the love and the hugs, all the tickles and all the kisses - here's to you, Lyla Precious ...

to another year around the sun.

    Red berries.

I'm tired. I was up all night, slaving over my hot stove, baking up a storm.

Sure wish that was true! I'm actually the world Worst Cook and World's Ultimate Work Baker - so, no, I was NOT near the oven last night except to make Mac n' Cheese for my kiddos.

I did, however, visit the Orangeville Farmer's Market this morning and found these lovely treasures to call my own. And since I'm on a break from my studio work (while I get the studio settled, painted and organized), I'm kind of going through photography-withdrawal and am now randomly photographing objects that catch my eye - such as these tasty treats. Mmmm. They are going fast. I believe I brought home eight tarts *smacking lips* ....

And it's strawberry season!! (I know this looks like a cherry, but it's not. I promise.) Fresh from the market.

and how can I resist eating this? I'm going to save it as a treat for myself to enjoy once I finish painting the studio - my to-do-job for this afternoon.

Wish me luck on painting the studio. I can't wait to have it done and all ready for clients!

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention I have a winner of Thursday's gift certificate! It was snatched up within half an hour of the posting! Thank you all for your sweet e-mails letting me know you read the blog! :D Keep your eyes peeled for more giveaways here on the blog. :)

Interesting article as for me. It would be great to read a bit more about that topic.

    July 05, 2007

Ahhhhhhhhh, it's good to be cyber-home.

    I'm back!

And I'm online and I finally have a phone hooked up and real high speed internet!  Yeah! It seriously felt like forever! For all my clients who called and wondered where I was this past two weeks, well, I was off in no-communication land and it was awful. I'm sorry to have kept you all waiting but thank you for being so lovingly patient. :)

So, now I'm in the process of setting up my studio and getting things organized. Yikes. We're painting the studio this weekend so I look forward to seeing the fresh coat of paint on the walls. It will liven the place up a bit, for sure!

It's nothing to look at right now ... just a mess really ...

(Sorry, only had my 50 mm lens on so I couldn't fit the whole room in the picture...)

Yeah, lots to do to the studio still.

But because I don't want to leave you with THAT ugly image, I'll at least post a nicer picture - some flowers my hubby just brought home and left on my doorstep ... :) ...

So ... in honour of the completion of the studio move - and in honour of my new location - I'm going to offer a $30 gift certifcate to the first person who e-mails me and titles their e-mail "I read your blog!" The certificate can be used for your print order or can be used towards a session booking - whatever works for you! Hurry! I think I hear an e-mail coming right now ....!!

Check back soon for lots of updates ... including .... new albums - yet again! This time - sweet pink and adorable blue! Perfect for babies!! Pictures to come soon!
