Baby, it's Cold outside ... contest details coming soon!

This is it! The contest you've been waiting for! Details will be announced tomorrow on my blog, but if you're expecting a baby within the new few months, *THIS* contest is for you ... be sure to stay tuned for more details!

In the studio today, I was thrilled to see one of my fav clients from two years ago ... and his baby sister ... what cutie-patooties they were! Some of my FAVOURITE portraits are the ones where moms are snuggle in and get some love from their babies. Today's client was a pro at it - her kiddos just warmed right up to the snuggle-fest and I got to capture it.

    Little Blessings.

Baby Emmitt visited my studio this week ... he's such a sweetie! He didn't cry once nor did he fuss. His parents were fabulous with him - they were easy going and comfortable with waiting and working through our two hour session. Baby Emmitt was a little stubborn near the end of the session and just didn't want to fall asleep, but with the help of some snuggles, warm milk and kisses and whispers from mommy and daddy, he ended up where I wanted him ...

    Happy Six Months.

Today is my baby's six month birthday.

Also, this month, my oldest daughter turns three.

So to celebrate this big month, I had Sheri, a local photographer, come to our place to take some family pictures. You know, it's hard as a photographer to be *in* your family images ... and it's hard to actually get a picture you like if you're not behind the camera ... it's a tough situation ... but Sheri managed to shoot just what I was looking for! Natural family shots in our home ...

    Bless you, Sheri!

We had so much fun ... that I think I might start offering sessions like this in 2007 to my clients (in home, at-ease sessions). Some people appreciate studio ... some appreciate natural scenes ... so what do you think? As a client, would you rather have your session SUPER DUPER casual in your living room or would you rather try the studio location? The thing I find with the *super duper* casual is you may not get everyone in one frame ... since it's life as it happens and if your toddler doesn't want to sit, well, she doesn't sit ...

    Send me your thoughts!

One more pic for the heck of it. :)

and my client, who I am uploading to my website as I type!!!

    Flipping sides

Yesterday, my family was photographed by a professional photographer, Sheri www.sherivisakaly.com , based out of Elora.

Wow! Was it ever intereting to be on the OTHER side - just like my clients! It certainly was great for me to see and feel what it's like to be a client ... to have the stress of "What to wear??!??!" or "Will my kids behave the whole time???" Sheri did a great job, though, and we had a fabulous time just hanging out (in other words, waiting for my two-almost-three-year-old to have her 'good' moments!)

Now the WORST part will be waiting to see the pictures! Hahaha! Now I REEALLY know how my clients feel!!!

Sheri, thank you for a great session yesterday. I'll be waiting on pins and needles to see the proofs! ;)

In the meantime, yesterday marked the opening of the studio for 2007. This will be an exciting and eventuful year for Gigi Photography! Be sure to stay tuned to hear of upcoming specials, events and promotions!

For now, here's another picture of baby Ella ... the cutie-patottie featured once before on this blog. Today I get to see a client of mine who I first met over two years ago. I cannot wait to see him and his mommy again - and to meet his new baby sister!

and another client who was such fun to photograph!

A new year, a new month, a new chapter.

There is nothing sweeter than the anticipation of meeting your newborn baby ... what a special time in your life, dreaming of your little one, wondering what he will look like or feel like in your arms ...

I'm just finiProof_2b_5shing the proofs for this session ... (click on picture for full view!)

and I get to meet the new little baby this week, as he was born over the holidays! I am excited to meet him! Newborn babies are one of my favourites to photograph. :)

Also, just a note about bookings ... January is almost full (just a few spots left to fill, possibly) and sessions are filling up fast for February. So, please, PLEASE, if you are thinking of booking a portrait session between February - April, please call or e-mail me (gillian@gigiphotography.com) and I'll reserve a spot for you. Spring outdoor sessions will be so much fun this year! I have some awesome locations for outdoor portraits - an apple orchard, rivers, bridges, waterfalls, old barns - lots of fun!! Start thinking about your booking and reserve your date as soon as possible.

    Happy New Year.

    Happy New Year, everyone!

Wow, time has just FLOWN past. It's kind of sad, actually, when I see how quickly the moments vanish ... which is why it's so important to capture moments in photographs! :) Such as this moment between Baby Ella and her daddy. What a sweet baby she was! So easy to work with and such a charmer ... she has the cutest head of hair and gorgeous blue eyes. It was such a treat meeting her yesterday.

Gorgeous first glimpse of Ella with Mommy and Daddy Sproule - I can't wait to see the rest. As always Gillian, your photos are beautiful! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family (and those two gorgeous girls!) Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up - but hope to see you this summer. All the best, Zoe!
