So this is Christmas - and what have you done?

... another year over, a new one just begun.

So Christmas has come and gone. It's amazing how fast the time flies! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, relaxing and spending time with their loved ones. :)

The studio is still closed as far as booking sessions, but I'm going to resume proofing some of the sessions that were shot past the Christmas deadline, so Gina, your pictures are coming soon! Here's a sneak peek for now!

    Wonder and excitement ...

It's so wonderful to watch the children's eyes light up as they experience Christmas and start to understand the joys and magic of this special holiday season.

I can't believe Christmas is so close - just a few more sleeps! The studio is closed till the new year, but here's a picture from earlier this month of the Big Guy in Red and two lucky boys who had the chance to meet him one afternoon ... (ignore the proof stamp - sorry! LOL!)

And I have to share this one - my little girl's first Christmas.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week, preparing for the big day!

I miss you! You have done AMAZING WORK! And a second baby???!! Wow. I hope that we can connect sometime soon. We are all well and still in Mississauga. You are still the best photographer ever. Congratulations on everything.

Super! My kids use that term many "sleeps" until whatever. LOL!

    Ten tiny fingers.

It's that time of year when we sit back, reflect, and count our blessings.  Christmas does that to humankind. We become softer, more pensive and less abbrasive to the general public - we suddenly become aware of other's needs ... we send cards and presents to show our loveds ones that we are thinking of them.

For this one Toronto-based family, I hope their friends truly reach out to them this Christmas, supporting them as they go through one of life's most difficult challenges - the loss of a child.

As a professional photographer, I volunteer through an organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep ( - an organization that sends out volunteer professional photographers to photograph babies who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and have been given a short span of time left to live. This weekend, I was called upon to photograph Baby M in Toronto at Sick Kids Hospital.

I did not know what to except of the session- I've photographed so many babies over the past few years, but all of them have been healthy. This time, Baby M, just shy of three weeks old, has been given till the end of the week to live.

When I arrived at the Toronto hospital and was introduced to Baby M and her family, my heart filled with grief and sorrow for the young couple, who had just experienced the joys surrounded with the birth of their first child and then had to turn around and face the possible death of their baby girl all within such a short span of time. I watched Baby M's parents as they listened to the doctor explain the seemingly-fatal health concerns of their tiny baby girl ...  I saw the mom's eyes fill with fear and concern every time the nurses had to adjust the position of her newborn baby, who laid helplessly and quiet in her hospital crib, attached to numerous cords and medical wires... I watched as both mom and dad grasped their daughter's tiny fingers in their hands while their baby slept ...

And I prayed. I prayed for this young couple ... I prayed that God would heal their hearts and help them through the pain they were experiencing and the pain that was to come.

It was only 45 minutes of my time but I will never forget what I saw through my camera lens ... the heartache of the parents .... the fear visible on their faces ... the tiny baby, so sweet and innocent, sleeping, barely stirring in her crib.

Baby M. is not expected to live the week ... if you are reading this, please pray for this tiny little girl and her parents. They have such a long road ahead of them...

I pray the Lord my soul to keep ...

and if I die before I wake,

I pray the Lord my soul to take ..."

    Magic ...

There is something magical ... something wonderful .... about Christmas. And as all parents have seen, having children makes Christmas all the more special as well because they believe in good will and delight in this charming time of year ...

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.  ~Charles Dickens

    Not snow, but second best.

We are waiting for a big dump of snow here in Ontario to make it feel more like Christmas! I have been praying, praying, praying for snow ... ! C'Mon Mother Nature!! Bring us that fluffy white stuff!
In the meantime, we have had a lot of ice .... okay, so it's pretty, I guess it'll do until we get snow. ;)

Just a quick update - the Keepsake Albums, which were such a hot item this Christmas, have all sold out, sadly. I will be offering something similiar in the new year - I'll post pictures soon to showcase the new akbum. I do apologize for the troubles it may cause some clients ...  but trust me, this new album is just as cute if not cuter and it comes in a gorgeous presentation box to boot!
